Play & Social Skills

Play is the time a child spends independently engaging in a task, game or activity which is meaningful and fun. Pretend play is when the child constructs stories or scenarios using various objects and toys and imagines them to represent other things. It promotes social and emotional growth and the development of planning skills, organisation, object manipulation and construction. Opportunities for children to engage in play experiences, strengthens their gross motor skills, enhances communication and allows for age appropriate development.
