Headstart offers at-home therapy options for clients. Allied Health Assistants (AHAs) provide therapy in the home with supervision and guidance from the Senior Clinical Occupational Therapist. The Senior Clinical Occupational Therapist (OT) works with you to understand and support your goals and aspirations to make a plan. The AHA works with the plan and goals designed by you for you. Regular check ins from the OT to support goals, assess progress and discuss moving forward with yourself and the AHA occur throughout the therapy.
AHAs can be students studying Occupational Therapy, Speech Pathology or Psychology. They receive ongoing training, support and contact with the OT throughout the therapy.
Therapies involve increasing independence in daily living skills and functional capacity for those living with Autism, and other disabilities.
In- home therapy can be used for any age group, and goals may include:
Children: play, motor skills, self-care, sensory issues and emotional regulation
Teenagers: sleep, organization and school-related activities.
Adults: organization, planning, self-care and daily activities
